Glazing fail!
My first experiment with glazing my rabbit did not turn out as I imagined. You live and learn! I think I applied the white too thickly and unevenly, added too much blue and besides that the nice texture on the surface is lost in the gloss of the glaze! I think I'll save gloss for my whales and try oxides on the rabbits next.

Hoardings Self Portrait
Ah I have such fond memories of this project! MMU teamed up with designer Ian Anderson (as in The Designer's Republic Ian Anderson, not the singer) on a project to create 'self portraits' for the hoardings around University during the time when the new Birley Fields building was being built. The hoardings are still visible outside the MMU Chatham building on Oxford Road.

Book Folding
Experimenting with folded books for a 'Text and Image' unit on my PGCE. Not sure if it really fits the brief but I had been wanting to do one for a while so this was the perfect excuse. The quote reads "For all things there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven." I'm not sure about how the pins used to raise the papercuts off the pages look, but it was worth trying out.

Glazing!
Glazing one of my rabbits with a helping hand from a friend! Hopefully it will be fired by next week!

Bisque Fired Pieces.
The whale and tiles after they have been bisque fired:
With the glaze on. These glazes will be blue after firing!

Let's hope I get into the habit of this Blogging thing soon.
I have recently been working with ceramics as part of my course and have got rather carried away with it. I have been experimenting with animals that have been increasing in size and complexity as I've become more confident with the medium!
My first experimental tiles:
